Biography

Patrick Desrosiers is an associate professor in the Department of Physics, Engineering Physics, and Optics at Université Laval and a researcher at the CERVO Research Centre. Initially trained in physics at Université Laval, where he earned a PhD in physics in 2004, he specialized in mathematical physics and in integrable systems. He then completed a postdoctoral fellowship in mathematics at the University of Melbourne (Australia), funded by an NSERC postdoctoral fellowship, followed by a second postdoctoral fellowship in mathematical physics at CEA-Saclay (France). From 2008 to 2014, he was a professor of mathematics at the Universidad de Talca (Chile), where he pursued research in random matrix theory and applied mathematics.

Since returning to Quebec City in 2014, his research has focused on the intersection of physics, applied mathematics, complex systems, and neuroscience. His research focuses on the organization and dynamics of large-scale neural networks, developing approaches from network theory, dynamical systems, and artificial intelligence to better understand brain function. He is co-director of Dynamica, a multidisciplinary group dedicated to the study of complex systems. His activities are part of several interdisciplinary groups and initiatives, including CIMMUL, UNIQUE, NeuroQuébec, IVADO, and the IID.
